MOMBASA – WASINI ISLAND - Mombasa to Shimoni 115 kms, Appx. 2 hrs

The excursion starts the minute you are picked from your hotel or villa. The safari will take you to wasini island and kisite marine park by road. You depart from shimoni jetty before low tide at approximately 0600hrs. The drive takes us across the ferry to the South Coast where you stop briefly at Diani for breakfast at the excursions departure point. We later proceed to the historical small fishing village of Shimoni driving via coastal settlements with views of palm trees, cashew nuts, mango trees, and rice paddies.

At Shimoni jetty, you board a traditional motorized Lamu dhow, which cruise and sail you through an enchanting seascape of Islands to the underwater splendors of the Kisite Marine Park. Here divers will marvel at the incredible variety of marine life in the shallow and warm waters around Kisite Island which is a bird sanctuary. The divers explore a number of excellent dive sites teeming with an extensive variety of Marine life which inhabit the magnificent coral reefs in and around the park. A swahili style seafood lunch is served at the Wasini Island restaurant. Lunch is followed with a visit to the traditional Muslim village after which you are dropped at your hotel in the late afternoon.
