M-pesa is a Safaricom service that allows the transfer of money using a mobile phone quick and simple, helping you and I do whatever we do best while on safari - which is capture life's memories and be free and wild. This service is also available in Tanzania, Uganda and almost ready for the South African market. Kenya is proud to be the first country in the world to use this technology. This service if offered by Safaricom, Kenya's biggest mobile phone provider in conjunction with Vodafone a world leader in mobile technology.

What do i need to start Using M-pesa?

Before you can use this service you need to register with an M-pesa Provider. This service is available in the UK in many Western Union branches. Please check the nearest Western Union near your town. Registration is easy and the following documents are required.

1. ID ( this could be a drivers licence, passport)
2. At least one document that shows prove of address.
3. Mobile phone.
4. The receiver on the other end is also required to be registered with an M-pesa provider.
5. Last but not by any means the least is the cash, which can be in euros, dollars or pounds.

What if i do not want to register with M-pesa?

If a client who is not registered for M-PESA is sent money via a Western Union outlet and they choose not to register, they will be able to collect their money from traditionally Western Union outlets. If the client is sent money via their mobile phone, they will need to register before they can collect their money.
